2024 General Election

General Election
A General Election is the election in which federal and state officers, members of Congress and of the general assembly, county and township officers, and other officers appear on the ballot. General Elections are held the 1st Tuesday after the 1st Monday in November of each even-numbered year.

Dates and Details

Tuesday, November 5
Election Day Polls are open 7am - 8pm.

Monday, November 4
Last day to vote absentee in person at the Auditor’s Office.

Saturday, November 2
Auditor’s office open 9am - 5pm.

Friday, November 1
Auditor’s Office open until 5pm.

Monday, October 21
Last day to submit a written request form for an absentee ballot to be mailed.
Last day to pre-register for the General Election
Auditor’s Office open until 5pm.

Wednesday, October 16
First day Absentee Ballots may be mailed or voted in the Auditor’s Office.
First day public notice may be published.

Saturday, September 21
UOCAVA absentee ballots must be ready.

Thursday, September 19
Auditor’s Office open until 5pm. Deadline to petition for a satellite absentee voting station.

Wednesday, August 28
Filing Deadline - County

Last day to file nomination papers for County Offices with the County Auditor.
This includes NPPO candidates, candidates nominated by petition, candidate for non-partisan offices, such as Hospital Trustees, Soil and Water Commission and Ag Extension Council and Republican, Democratic, Libertarian Parties’ nomination to fill ballot vacancies.  The Auditor’s Office will be open until the deadline of 5PM.

First Day to submit absentee ballot request to the Auditor’s Office

First day to submit an absentee ballot request form to the Auditor’s Office.

Friday, August 23
Last Day for Vacancies - County

If a midterm vacancy in a county office occurs on or before this day and no special election is called to fill the vacancy, the office must be on the ballot to fill vacancy at the general election.  Political party nominations must be made by convention.

Monday, August 5
County Candidate Filing Begins

First day for non-party political organization (NPPO) candidates and candidates nominated by petition to file nomination papers for county and township offices with the Auditor.
