Special Election
A Special Election is any election that is not regularly scheduled. A special election may be held for any purpose authorized or required by law; often to fill a vacancy or for a public measure.
Each incorporated area and unincorporated area of Wayne County are holding an election for the LOSST.
This election on September 8, 2026, is to determine if a new .01 cent LOSST will go into effect on January 1, 2028.
LOSST-LOCAL OPTION SALES & SERVICE TAX .01 cent
There is currently .01 cent LOSST in place for all of Wayne County,
but on December 31, 2027, this LOSST will sunset.
This election will determine if a new LOSST .01 cent tax will go into effect January 1, 2028.

Absentee Ballot Request Forms may now be submitted to the Auditors Office.
SEPTEMBER 8, 2026 ELECTION DAY
Polling locations will be the same as in a regular city/school election.
First Day that you may vote in-person an absentee ballot is Wednesday, August 19th @ 8AM.
First Day that Absentee Ballots shall be mailed is Wednesday, August 19th.
Last Day to request an Absentee Ballot to be mailed is Monday, August 24th @ 5PM.
Last Day to preregister for this election is Monday, August 24th @ 5PM. (Auditor's Office is open until 5PM)
The auditor's office will not be opened for any Saturday voting.
The auditor's office will not be opened on Labor Day, September 7th for Absentee Voting.
